Guest Speaker Abbas Rajabi, District Governor 08/15/2017
Inspiring, Encouraging, Motivating, Moving.
2017-18 Rotary District Governor Abbas Rajabi Bio:
We had a very special guest this past week, District Governor, Abbas Rajabi, who brought a moving speech about love, respect, gratitude, generosity, and service above self. He welcomed members of the club, showed appreciation for our growth, and let us know to, “Bring more Women!” Without the mother touch, there is chaos.
Mr. Rajabi opened with a quote from the Great Philosopher, Albert Schweitzer. “I don’t know what your destiny will be, but one thing I know: The only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve.” Mr. Rajabi’s gift to us is love. He advised that peace starts with the mother and father. That we should be learning peace/conflict resolution/and conflict prevention. Above all, educate and get educated.
Abbas Rajabi believes we should be advertising the kindness of Rotary. We should be educating others of what we do, and informing them how their support matters. “We are people in action”, newest movement in Rotary. Spread the word.
Discussed was how the District 5450 Conference will be different next year. The annual Rotarian conference will be held the weekend of May 19th and 20th, 2018. In previous years, this Conference has been hosted in mountainous areas, running approximately $1000.00 to be in attendance, and more difficult to travel. Mr. Rajabi wants to change this, making it accessible to more people for about $200.00, cost of attendance. Thus, the next conference in 2018 will be held in Denver, for one day, overnight stay not required, and the “House of Friendship” will be open both days.
In addition to the service part of our fine service organization, Mr. Rajabi had a message for us, reminding us that Paul Harris started a networking organization that became a service organization. And to not forget the networking side. That if you are doing business with a fellow Rotarian, you are already connected with the Four-Way Test of the things we think, say or do. The Four-Way Test is used by Rotarians world-wide as a moral code for personal and business relationships.
It is an honor to have heard Mr. Abbas Rajabi deliver his message, filling our hearts with hope. From all of us at Golden Rotary, thank you for your gift of love, and generosity of time.
