President Dan welcomed all to the 35th meeting on April 15th (income tax day) of the 28th year of the Rotary Club of Golden at 07:20 A.M.
Opening prayer by Pastor Don Bleyle, Pledge by PP George Mitchell and 4-Way Test led by Mike Bestor
This is Rotary Magazine Month
Our Membership Chair   PP Pat Madison was replaced by Rick Hebert (really looking good) and welcomed our guests – Wendy Roberts, Golden High School;  GHS Teacher Shannon Garvin;  Student of the Month Jake Mitchell and Jake’s parents Mike and Carol Mitchell;  Dennis Orr;  Michelle Ohnemus, potential new member;  Dru Short, Denver West Rotary and Dawn Smith, Golden Chamber of Commerce .
Rotarian of the Month    . . .  Please stand with me and recognize Rotarian JOAN OSBORNE as our Golden Rotary ROTARIAN OF THE MONTH for April!
Classification Talk Peggy Halderman told us of growing up in a Military Family (Dad commanded a dirigible for one assignment (wow)).   Got her degree in Business Administration – entered into Public Service and helped with political campaigns then on in to the National Park Service - retiring after 32 years.  From there to being a Personal Chef, Looming, and on in to the full time plus Golden Backpack Program.  A “fun-filled” life Peggy!
Student of the Month Joan Osborne introduced Golden High Counselor Wendy Roberts who in turn introduced student Jake Mitchell’s math teacher, Shannon Garth.  Shannon told us how Mike signed up for two hard math subjects students normally can’t do.  Jake stuck with them and was successful, as he is with all his endeavors – studies, athletics and a kind hearted person – a well rounded student who will go far in his career!   Jake plans to attend CU Boulder to study the sciences.  He is the son of proud parents Carol and Mike Mitchell.
